Steroids, HGH and Hair Loss

In the past few years we've seen the news coverage spotlight ofroids bonds professional athletes and their use of steroids and human growth hormone(HGH).  While we now all know the damage that these chemicals can cause to the body (liver damage, high blood pressure, extreme aggression), many individuals simply don't know the major increase of hair loss that can occur.

Why and How

by using steroids or HGH consistently your body increases its natural testosterone levels and therefore increasing the muscle mass.  Androgenetic Alopecia, male/female pattern hair loss is predetermined genetically and is directly tied to hormone levels. When hair follicles become damaged and clogged through the DHT (dihydrotestosterone) process, the resulting factor is the thinning and shedding of hairs.  Simply put, when testosterone levels are elevated so is the hair loss.

What to do if you're in this situation

If you are currently using steroids or HGH or have used them in the past and have noticed hair thinning or excessive shedding the best option would be to talk to a hair growth specialist.  Once a scalp analysis has been performed a strict regime will follow to stop the hair loss and concentrate on thickening up the damaged hairs.
